X2 convertible leaked for 2020?

According to a mishap with the seasonal Monopoly game at McDonalds, a new variant of thw X2 may have been teased in Germany. Since we have yet to see any test mules of this variant, it is still probably a few years out from hitting the market. Is this a good move considering what we saw with the Evoque? https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...y-130901.html#

I already like what i'm seeing. The 1 series convertible was ugly but the most affordable BMW convertible that money could buy. Don't know about you guys but it always looked like a bathtub to me

The market for convertibles isn't what it used to be. As impressive as the technology has become for modern drop tops, most drivers don't seem to be all that interested in them. Practicality has become such a key focus for new vehicle purchases.

That explains why most convertible offerings I see are either high end vehicles or low ends that were always sold as such and have a strong following.

I just find the proportions on convertible SUV's to be very hard to get right. There were some renderings awhile back and I wasn't very pleased with any of them. ex

I always like the convertible top that Fiat 500's had and think it would work well as we can see the X2's roof line is essential to its design.

Saw an Evoque convertible today while out getting groceries and fortunately BMW hasn't produced anything nearly as ugly yet.

JLR already pulled the plug on that model, due to a lack of interest. At least that might mean good resale value for current owners.

Its not easy to get these lines right and we've seen how horribly it can go with these renderings. I'm skeptical that the market is big enough for this kind of model.

Automakers like BMW and Land Rover benefit from positive brand perspective which helps in these cases.
